Awarded the People’s Choice Award at the 2023 Great British & Irish Cheddar Challenge, this cheese is a masterpiece of craftsmanship. Created from the milk of our grass-fed cows, each wheel is carefully wrapped in cloth and naturally aged, typically over a span of 18 months.

Crafted at Home Farm in Newton St Cyres, Devon, by Mary Quicke, Quickes Cheddar is a testament to centuries of farming heritage. Mary’s family has cultivated the land for more than 450 years. This cheese is produced from the milk of their 330-strong herd of Quickes Cows, a distinct blend of cow breeds, which imbues the cheddar with its signature robust taste.


Handcrafted through age-old techniques, each cheese is then cloth-bound and aged for 12-15 months. The result is a creamy, rich cheddar that unfolds a complex bouquet of flavors, from meaty and grassy to caramel, as it progresses across the palate. This maturation process showcases an extraordinary depth and range of tastes.


Quickes Cheddar pairs wonderfully with a variety of foods and drinks. Enjoy it with crisp apples or pears, and accompany it with chutneys or pickles to enhance its complex flavors. It also complements robust red wines, such as Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot, and traditional English ales.
