Description

Sancerre is a sophisticated and elegant wine. Dry with crisp acidity and a long finish, it boasts powerful aromas of white and yellow fruits, with flavours of apple, gooseberry, white peach, and a hint of flint and juicy Sauvignon zest.

History and Winemaking

The Reverdy-Ducroux domaine is located in Verdigny, one of the most respected villages in the Sancerre region. With a winemaking heritage spanning 14 generations, the estate is now led by Laurent Reverdy. He brings a strong focus on terroir expression and sustainable vineyard practices. The domaine farms around 50 plots, spread across some of the region’s finest slopes. Modern equipment and renovated cellars help preserve the finesse and purity of their wines. Their range includes white, red, and rosé wines, all crafted with precision and care. Today, Reverdy-Ducroux enjoys a growing reputation and exports their wines worldwide.

Tasting Notes

This Sancerre is dry and elegant, with crisp acidity and a long, clean finish. Aromas of white and yellow fruits lead the nose, with flavours of apple, gooseberry, and white peach on the palate. A subtle note of flint and citrus zest adds depth and minerality, rounding out the wine’s refined style.

Pairings

Domaine Reverdy-Ducroux Sancerre is a bright, elegant Sauvignon Blanc that pairs effortlessly with a wide range of dishes, thanks to its crisp acidity and vibrant fruit character. Its classic pairing with goat’s cheese, especially Crottin de Chavignol from the same region, is unmatched—the wine’s zesty citrus and mineral notes cut beautifully through the cheese’s creamy tang, creating a balanced and refreshing bite.

Beyond cheese, this Sancerre shines alongside seafood—from fresh oysters and seared scallops to grilled white fish with lemon or herbs. Its clean, herbaceous qualities enhance the delicate flavours of shellfish and bring out the best in seafood dishes. Light salads with citrus vinaigrettes, seasonal greens, or soft herbs also pair well, allowing the wine’s freshness to take centre stage.

The wine’s subtle minerality and stone fruit notes make it a great companion to grilled vegetables, such as courgettes, asparagus, or bell peppers. It also complements light poultry dishes, particularly those prepared with lemon, thyme, or white wine sauces. For a cheese board, try it with other fresh or mild cheeses like feta, ricotta, or a young Comté.
