Product Details
Location
Tête de Moine AOP is produced in the Jura Mountains of Switzerland, primarily in the districts of Delémont, Moutier, and Courtelary. This alpine region, with its lush pastures and long-standing monastic dairy traditions, lends the cheese its distinctive character and exceptional quality.
Tasting
Tête de Moine is prized for its aromatic, melt-in-the-mouth texture and delicately complex flavour. Rather than being cut, it is traditionally shaved into rosettes using a girolle, which aerates the cheese and intensifies its floral, nutty, and slightly tangy notes. Its supple, semi-hard body releases rich aromas that evolve beautifully on the palate.
Pairing
This celebrated Swiss cheese pairs wonderfully with crisp white wines such as Chasselas or Riesling, as well as light to medium-bodied reds. It also complements charcuterie, fresh fruit, and crusty bread. On a cheese board, its rosettes add both elegance and an explosion of flavour.
Recipe
Shave Tête de Moine rosettes over warm roasted vegetables, risotto, or fresh salads to add depth and aromatic lift. It also makes a luxurious topping for flatbreads or can be enjoyed simply with honey and nuts for a refined appetiser.
